Hello friend,

This week is one of our most-favorite Sundays of the year when we celebrate God’s blessing and provision of our nation. 248 years ago, we declared to the world that we were a free country, accountable to God. The first mention of God occurs in the very first sentence of the Declaration which calls out the origin of power being the “Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God.”

The second mention of God, He is referred to as the Creator Who endows humans with unalienable rights. In other words, God is the granter of human rights and the Creator of natural law.

The third time God is called the “Supreme Judge of the world.” The framers knew that justice is God’s idea, not ours.

The fourth, and final mention is the final sentence of the declaration which states, “with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.” The founders gave themselves to God, the “divine Providence,” whom they believed had protected them and would continue to do so.

Yes, God was in the very fabric and essence of America even as our foundation was being laid. But sadly, we have drifted for from those biblical moorings and the question of, “How Can We Turn America Back Towards God?” is even more important than who gets elected president in November. Our God is in control, but we as Christians have a vital calling to live out our faith so that the world will see the way back to its Creator. The buck stops with us! It’s time The Church regroups and reorients itself back towards God. I hope you’ll be there this Sunday at 9am or 11am for this timely message from Galatians.
