Why do we call Good Friday good?
If you had asked the disciples on the day of Jesus’ death and burial, they would have very likely agreed with you. What good could possibly come from all the horrific things that took place to their Friend and Teacher? And now, He lays dead in a borrowed tomb. What good could possibly come from such a profound tragedy, they may have asked. What’s so good about Good Friday? For starters, because of the results of Christ’s death on the cross. Jesus’ sacrifice was a demonstration of God’s love for us (Romans 5:8). Through Jesus’ death, we can have peace with God: “While we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son” (Romans 5:10). As 1 Peter 3:18 says, “Christ suffered for our sins once for all time. He never sinned, but he died for sinners to bring you safely home to God” Good Friday is good, because we’ve been provided complete forgiveness and restoration to the Father. We now can be called children of The Most-High God. And that’s not just good news, that’s the best news ever! Thank You Jesus for dying – not only for us – but instead of us!
This Easter Sunday, we celebrate the greatest day in history – Jesus’ resurrection from, and victory over, death itself. He defeated sin, death, and Satan himself when He walked out of that grave. I hope you’ve invited someone, who doesn’t know Jesus, to come with you to church. This will be a wonderful opportunity for them to hear a simple, yet profound, presentation of the Gospel.
Easter Sunday – April 20, 9a & 11a. The Resurrection Celebration! He’s alive! Jesus is alive! Sermon, Worship music, followed by a celebration with our kiddos after both services – The Great Balloon Grab outside in the “Grass Valley” located in between our two buildings out in our parking lot.
EZ SHUTTLE RIDE: Easter is our biggest weekend of the year, and I hope you’ll come to celebrate the greatest day in history with us. For your convenience, we are providing two shuttles which will run in between RCC and Eagle High School’s north-end (closest to RCC) parking lot. They’ll drop you right in front of our new worship center.
This is going to be an exciting Spring for Restored Community Church! Through RCC, God is sending out the Gospel like we’ve never seen before in the history of our church, and we are so grateful that you’re using your Time, Talent, and Treasure to spread the Good News to a world that desperately needs it.
Mark your calendars and come and pray for our country as we celebrate The National Day of Prayer at RCC, Thursday, May 1 at 12pm.
May the knowledge of the Resurrection renew and rekindle the passion in our hearts for sharing the Gospel with our unsaved family, friends, neighbors and co-workers!
Jesus is coming back soon!
Thanks for staying InTouch!
